Black Silicon Carbide VS Green Silicon Carbide

Differences Between Green Silicon Carbide and Black Silicon Carbide Green silicon carbide and black silicon carbide are basically the same, but their raw materials and manufacturing processes differ. Green silicon carbide has superior hardness and purity compared to black silicon carbide. Its elastic modulus reaches 410 GPa, it does not dissolve under normal temperature and pressure, and only begins to degrade above 1600°C, decomposing at 2815.5°C. Our company produces reaction sintered silicon carbide products, with a normal operating temperature ≤1350°C. Green silicon carbide is suitable for grinding copper, brass, aluminum, gemstones, optical glass, ceramics, and other hard alloys, metals, and hard and brittle non-metallic materials. Its fine powder can also be used as a ceramic material. Table 1-2 Performance of Domestic and Foreign Reaction Sintered Silicon Carbide Table 1-2 Application Fields of Silicon Carbide Applications and Characteristics of Silicon Carbide: Both types of silicon carbide belong to α-SiC. Black silicon carbide contains about 95% SiC and has higher toughness than green silicon carbide. It is mostly used for processing materials with low tensile strength, such as glass, ceramics, stone, refractory materials, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Green silicon carbide contains about 97% or more SiC, has good sharpness, and is mostly used for processing hard alloys, titanium alloys, and optical glass. It is also used for grinding cylinder sleeves and precision grinding of high-speed steel tools. They can be made into nozzles, radiation tubes, desulfurization nozzles, beams, rollers, cold air pipes, thermocouple protection tubes, and various wear-resistant, high-temperature resistant, and corrosion-resistant special-shaped parts.
