Differences Between Green Silicon Carbide and Black Silicon Carbide
Green silicon carbide and black silicon carbide are basically the same, but the raw materials and manufacturing processes differ. Additionally, green silicon carbide has superior hardness and purity compared to black silicon carbide. Its elastic modulus reaches 410 GPa, it does not dissolve under normal temperature and pressure, only wears at temperatures above 1600°C, and decomposes at 2815.5°C.
The silicon carbide products produced by our company are reaction sintered silicon carbide products, with a normal usage temperature ≤1350°C.
Green silicon carbide is suitable for grinding copper, brass, aluminum, gemstones, optical glass, ceramics, and other hard alloys, metals, and hard and brittle non-metallic materials. Its micron powder can also be used as a ceramic material.

Smelting SiC Type SiO2 Content (%) LOI (%) Residue Content (%)
Green Silicon Carbide >99.3 <0.4 <0.6
Black Silicon Carbide >98.5 <0.4 <1.0
Our company's product raw materials are green silicon carbide, with content all above 99.8%.

Applications and Characteristics of Silicon Carbide:
Both types of silicon carbide belong to α-SiC. Black silicon carbide contains about 95% SiC, has higher toughness than green silicon carbide, and is mostly used for processing materials with low tensile strength, such as glass, ceramics, stone, refractory materials, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals.
Green silicon carbide contains about 97% or more SiC, has good sharpness, and is mostly used for processing hard alloys, titanium alloys, and optical glass. It is also used for grinding cylinder sleeves and precision grinding of high-speed steel tools.
Main Performance Characteristics of Reaction Sintered Silicon Carbide Ceramic Products:
Reaction sintered silicon carbide ceramics have basic properties and main features such as high strength, high hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, strong oxidation resistance, good thermal shock resistance, good thermal conductivity, resistance to extreme cold and heat, and resistance to high-temperature creep. They can be made into burner nozzles, radiation tubes, desulfurization nozzles, beams, rollers, cold air pipes, thermocouple protection tubes, and various wear-resistant, high-temperature resistant, and corrosion-resistant special-shaped parts.
